Introducing Madeleine Paige!!!!

On August 29, 2010 at 8:22 am, Miss Madeleine Paige Fournier came into the world. She weighed in at a petite 7lbs 11oz and 19.5 inches long. I had hoped for a smaller baby than her big brother who was 8.1 and 20.5 inches; I got what I wanted but not by much!  Maddie came out absolutely perfect; we couldn't be happier.

So Maddie, here is your birth story....
At about 8:40 pm, Mom and Dad were getting comfy on the couch getting ready to watch Hot Tub Time Machine. Daddy had a big bowl of ice cream ready to go and was aiming the remote at the TV to hit Play when Mommy felt something strange, stood up with her handy dandy bath towel wrapped around her and as she waddled (quickly) out of the living room, she said over her shoulder "water breaking, WATER BREAKING!!!!!"  Mommy made it to the bathroom without too much damage and stayed in there laughing for a little while before she could really get it together.  After she calmed down, she called Nana and Papa and told them to hit the road, Madeleine is coming!!! Mommy and Daddy then regrouped upstairs to figure out the game plan and decided to call our friend Parke to come and stay with Christian until Nana and Papa could get to our house. Mommy and Daddy both took showers and put clean sheets on the bed for Nana and Papa and when Parke got to the house, we packed the car and were at the hospital around 9:30.

Then there was a LOT of waiting. We walked around the maternity ward, took advantage of the free WiFi, tried to rest a bit and then around 3 am, Mommy got her epidural. Mommy had had a bad cold and cough for a few days already and the cough had made all of her stomach muscles strain.  She couldn't even sit up or roll over. She was afraid to get her epidural so soon, that it might stop your labor, but they gave me pitocin to keep it all moving along and we were good to go. Then Mommy and Daddy took a four hour nap!

Around 5 or so, the resident checked Mommy and we were only at 4 or 5 cm. Mommy couldn't believe that that was all! Then around 745, Dr. Miller checked Mommy again and we were at 7 cm. Dr. Miller said it would be a few hours and then we would have a baby. About 10 minutes after the doctor left the room, Mommy was in excruciating pain! She couldn't even speak. Daddy called for the nurse to come back and when she finally came and checked Mommy, she said "That baby is coming NOW!" There was a lot of commotion in the hallway and orders to Mommy to NOT PUSH. She was left alone in the room for what seemed like an eternity while Daddy went to the bathroom and then bright lights were being turned on and a midwife came in and introduced herself; Dr. Miller was in the OR and couldn't be there to deliver you! (all the guarantees in the world that a stranger would not deliver my baby and here we were again!) Daddy asked the midwife if there was anything they could do to take the edge off of the pain and the answer was no "it will all be over in 5 minutes". Within a few minutes, your head was out and the midwife asked Mommy if she wanted to pull you out. I reached down and grabbed you and in a few seconds you were on my chest and yelling! You were the most beautiful pink little thing ever. After a little while, they took you away to weigh you and clean you up but then you came back and just laid on Mommy's chest, looking around and content to just stay there forever.

We waited a long time for you Madeleine, but you were well worth the wait. Mommy and Daddy wouldn't have it any other way!
